Invitation to ESTHER Ireland’s 2nd Start-up Grants Workshop
ESTHER Ireland works to support international partnerships between Irish health institutions and their counterparts in low- and middle- income countries. ESTHER Ireland aims to support such partnerships through recognition, promotion, and networking, as well as helping to build such interactions by providing a Start-Up Grants Programme that facilitates the critical early exchanges which lay the groundwork to build a sustainable and equitable partnership.
Following a successful workshop which was held in Dublin in March, ESTHER Ireland now invites interested parties to attend a Start-Up Grants workshop in Galway.
This workshop is intended as an introduction to the Programme, which is available to Irish health institutions wishing to build partnerships with institutions in the Global South, in order to help strengthen the knowledge and skills of health professionals and improve quality of health care. The Start-Up Grants of up to €6000 per partnership are specifically intended to support the early development of such partnerships, including conceptualisation and initial meetings or exchange visits to help develop shared vision. In order to be eligible for a Start-up Grant you must be part of a recognised institution involved in health care delivery or health education/ training.
Attendees will be given an introduction to ESTHER Ireland, information on how to apply to the Start-up Grants programme, as well as a short presentation from a current ESTHER Ireland Start-Up Grantee. The workshop will feature presentations from current Start-Up grantees, and will be a great chance to find out more about the scope of the Start-Up Grants Programme, as well as to hear from colleagues who have already put the grants to great use in their partnerships work overseas.
The agenda is detailed below, and if you would like to reserve a place on the workshop, please email [email protected], and please circulate this message to any colleagues who you might feel would be interested in attending.
The workshop will take place at NUI Galway in the Small Lecture Theatre in the Clinical Sciences Institute from 4.30 – 6pm on Wednesday 29th April.
